August Pastoral Letter

Dear Members and Friends of Covenant,

Greetings, in the name of Jesus Christ, the One who came to show us how to love God, ourselves, and each other. August marks the “Black August” celebrations, an acknowledgment and commemoration of the countless organizers, activists, and freedom fighters who sacrificed their freedom and lives in the struggle for Black liberation. We will continue to share information on community events throughout the month. Additionally, join us on Wed, August 30th, as we discuss “Unbroken and Unbowed.” A History of Black Protest in America.

As we continue in the “By Request’ Preaching Series,” I thank each of you for sending suggestions and topics. The series will conclude on Sunday, August 27th. On that Sunday, we will offer prayers for children, youth, and students of any age in preparation for the upcoming academic year. If you or someone in your family is a student, teacher, or administrator, encourage them to join us in worship for “Backpack Blessings,” feel free to bring your bookbags with you. Lastly, everyone is encouraged to mark on their calendars, Wednesday evening, Sept. 6th, as we begin “Bible Studies That Matter.”

Wishing you all spiritual health and joy,

Pastor Lakesha
